The Heelflip Masterclass ( how to heelflip and control them)
Dan Corrigan·21:11
The Heelflip Masterclass ( how to heelflip and control them) by Dan Corrigan is a skateboarding tutorial for the Heelflip. Dan Corrigan delivers a master-class covering common technique errors (donkey-kick versus proper flick, flicking too early off the short heel-side edge), back-foot positioning to tune flip speed, the lazy-low-flick as the best starting point for consistency, and the front-foot dangle cue for cleaner, more leveled heelflips.
What this video teaches
Dan Corrigan delivers a master-class covering common technique errors (donkey-kick versus proper flick, flicking too early off the short heel-side edge), back-foot positioning to tune flip speed, the lazy-low-flick as the best starting point for consistency, and the front-foot dangle cue for cleaner, more leveled heelflips. He also addresses the back-seat body-weight problem and demonstrates how a forward body position over the front truck fixes the board shooting forward.
Key tips
1Use the side of your shoe and drag-flick off the nose, not a flat-foot donkey kick off the rail (that makes heelflips mob and backside-wobbly)
2Aim your flick for the center-nose area and let it exit diagonally rather than cutting the angle short off the side of the board
3The heel-side edge of your foot is shorter than the kickflip side, so you need to drag further toward the nose before releasing the flick
4Back foot further toward the heel-side edge increases concave and flip speed, useful when trying to pop over something or speed up a slow flip
5Start with quick, low heelflips to find the lazy spot, then add height later as consistency builds
6Let your front foot dangle straight forward after the flick so the exit path forces a clean roll off the nose
7Stay over your front truck, not in the back seat, so the board flips under you rather than flying forward
8Extend the front foot out and hold it there longer than feels natural to prevent mobbing and encourage a level, tweaked position
