What the tutorials teach
Every tutorial treats the nose blunt slide as an extension of a nose slide or lip slide you already have locked in: approach the ledge or rail at only a slight angle, staying close to parallel, then pop a genuinely high ollie rather than scooping into an early turn. The turn into the lock only starts once you've cleared the entire obstacle at the top of your ollie arc, letting the nose dip into the corner and stall almost vertically; turning too early or not clearing fully is what causes a slipped-out attempt or an accidental overcrook or crooked lock. Once locked in, nearly all your weight loads onto the front foot pressing the nose down, your body stays centered and tall over the corner, and a heavily waxed surface is treated as mandatory since even good technique sticks on a dry ledge. To exit, push down harder than you would out of a regular nose slide to pop the board off the corner, then turn your shoulders and hips to bring the board back roughly 90 degrees to your travel direction and roll away on all four wheels. Backside variants add a look-over-the-shoulder motion and benefit from mentally rehearsing the frontside version first; staying weighted toward the toe side, rather than digging in on the heel side, keeps the slide gliding instead of stalling out.
- Lock in solid frontside 180s, a strong ollie, and either a nose slide or lip slide before attempting the nose blunt slide, since it builds directly on all three
- Approach the ledge or rail at only a slight angle, staying close to parallel, rather than coming in steep
- Pop a genuinely high, straight-up ollie and only start turning once you've cleared the entire obstacle at the top of your arc, not while popping
- Let the nose dip into the corner of the ledge as you turn in, aiming to land nearly vertical rather than flat and power-sliding on top
- Load almost all your weight onto the front foot pressing the nose down once locked in, keeping your body centered and tall over the corner to avoid slipping off either side
- Wax the ledge or rail heavily before attempting the trick; a dry surface will stick the board even with good technique
- Exit by pushing down harder than you would out of a regular nose slide, popping the board off the corner, then turning your shoulders and hips to land around 90 degrees to your original direction
- On backside variants, mentally rehearse the frontside version first and keep your weight toward the toe side, since digging in on the heel side stalls the slide instead of letting it glide
